A South Florida private school teacher is now behind bars after investigators uncovered disturbing allegations involving minors and online platforms.
Authorities say Evan Michael Sands, who worked at The Randazzo School, was arrested April 23 following an investigation into alleged possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
The case began after a tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and later forwarded to the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force back in December.
According to federal documents, the tip involved two explicit videos that had been shared through Discord. Investigators say those videos depicted very young children, which immediately triggered a deeper investigation.
After tracing the account, authorities allege it was connected to Sands.
From there, investigators say they uncovered a pattern of behavior. According to the complaint, Sands allegedly engaged in numerous conversations with minors—some reportedly under the age of 12—where he solicited explicit images and videos.
Officials also claim he sent explicit content of himself to the minors while identifying who he was, including where he worked.
As part of the investigation, agents executed a search warrant at Sands’ home and also stopped him as he was leaving the property. After reviewing his phone, authorities say they discovered additional disturbing material involving minors.
During questioning, Sands allegedly admitted to communicating with minors online since 2021. Investigators say he used in-game currency from Roblox—known as Robux—to entice children into sending explicit content.
He is currently being held at the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail and is facing multiple federal charges, including possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, as well as enticement of a minor.
Following his arrest, school officials confirmed he will not return to the classroom.
“We are shocked and saddened by this development,” the school said in a statement, adding that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement. They also noted that, based on current information, there is no evidence that students from the school were involved.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence in the case.
