A Kentucky mother is facing child abuse charges after police say her 22-month-old son was found with a tattoo on his arm under disturbing circumstances.

According to reports, 27-year-old Brook McDaniel was arrested Monday after Kentucky State Police received a complaint involving possible child abuse at a home in Monticello near the Tennessee border.

When troopers arrived at the home, they reportedly found McDaniel and her toddler son — and quickly noticed something alarming.

Authorities said the little boy had what appeared to be a black dot tattoo on his right forearm, along with visible redness around the area.

Police documents obtained by local outlets stated that McDaniel allegedly told officers she had been tattooing her own leg when the child suddenly walked up and put his arm in front of the tattoo gun.

But witnesses reportedly gave investigators a different version of events.

According to the arrest citation, witnesses claimed McDaniel said the toddler “wanted the tattoo” and even referred to it as a “party dot.”

The shocking allegations didn’t stop there.

Troopers also reportedly contacted the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services after observing what they described as “deplorable” living conditions inside the home.

McDaniel was charged with fourth-degree assault involving child abuse and booked into the Adair County Detention Center on May 4.

Reports say she is currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond.

The case has sparked outrage online, with many people stunned that a child so young allegedly ended up with a tattoo.

Authorities have not released additional details about the child’s condition or whether further charges could be filed.
