A shocking shooting at an Ohio Costco has left a beloved employee dead after what police say began as a confrontation over a gun.

Authorities say the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. on April 25 at a Costco store on Royalton Road in Strongsville.

The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Randolph “Randy” Corrigan, a Cleveland resident and longtime Costco employee.

According to Strongsville Police Department, Corrigan was shot multiple times in the chest, arm, and abdomen after allegedly confronting a man who was trying to enter the store while armed.

Police say the suspect, 22-year-old Christian M. Bryant of Fort Worth, Texas, had what appeared to be a drum magazine visible in his pocket. When Corrigan and another employee approached him and told him he couldn’t enter the store with a weapon, investigators say Bryant pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and opened fire.

Court documents cited by local reports say Corrigan may have had a pocketknife when he approached the suspect. Bryant later told police he believed he was defending himself, claiming a man came at him “for no reason.”

Bryant has now been arrested and charged with murder. He appeared in court on April 27, where a judge set his bond at $5 million. Authorities say the case will go before a grand jury, and additional charges could be added.

The investigation is still ongoing.

In the wake of the tragedy, friends and family are remembering Corrigan as a kind, generous man who made a lasting impact on everyone around him.

A GoFundMe set up to support his family describes him as funny, selfless, and deeply caring — especially as the primary caregiver for his 86-year-old grandmother.

Loved by his coworkers, Corrigan was known for brightening people’s days, often joking around and sharing treats with those he worked alongside. Outside of work, he had a passion for Jeeps, tattoos, and his Irish heritage.

His family says his remains will be scattered in Corona del Mar, honoring his final wishes.

As donations continue to pour in, the community is left grieving a man many describe as unforgettable — taken in a moment of violence that has shaken the entire area.
