A routine shopping trip in Kentucky turned into a scene of chaos and violence after a woman allegedly chased down another customer and stabbed her inside a Goodwill store.

Police say the incident happened around 1:35 p.m. on April 21 at a Goodwill location on North 12th Street in Murray.

According to the Murray Police Department, 30-year-old Madison Hinchey entered the store yelling before targeting another woman and chasing her through the building.

Investigators say the situation quickly escalated. Hinchey allegedly pulled a knife from her purse and caught up with the victim near the store’s loading dock, where she stabbed her in the chest. Authorities also say she bit the woman during the attack.

When an employee tried to step in and stop the violence, police say Hinchey grabbed a metal snow shovel and used it to strike the worker.

Officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a stabbing and found employees physically restraining the suspect when they arrived. Inside the store, they located two victims — one suffering from a stab wound and another who had been hit with the shovel.

The woman who was stabbed was airlifted to a regional hospital for emergency treatment. Officials have not released updates on her condition or the condition of the injured employee.

Hinchey was taken into custody at the scene and is now facing serious charges, including attempted murder, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree assault. She is being held in the Calloway County Jail without bond.

According to reports, she allegedly made a chilling statement after being detained, telling officers she “got what she came for.”

Police have not yet announced a possible motive as the investigation continues.
