‘Killer’ Dies While Trying to Dump Girlfriend’s Body in Woods

An Alabama death investigation took a bizarre and horrifying turn after authorities said a man died of a heart attack while allegedly trying to dump his girlfriend’s body after killing her.

The case centers on 44-year-old Daniel Robbins and 47-year-old Jessica Folds, who were found dead together on the morning of June 10 in a wooded area near an abandoned vehicle in Lanett, Alabama.

According to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found both bodies next to each other and sent them to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for autopsies.

Investigators later determined that Robbins, who was reportedly from Georgia, and Folds, who was from Lanett, had been in a relationship before her death.

Authorities now believe Robbins fatally strangled Folds and then died while attempting to hide her body in a remote location.

“He died of a heart attack while doing it,” District Attorney Mike Segrest told AL.com, which first reported the findings. “Their bodies were right there together.”

Segrest said the investigation, along with autopsy results, determined that Folds “was strangled.”

“It appears [Robbins] was attempting to dispose of [her] body in a remote location” when he died, Segrest said.

According to Segrest, the truck found near the bodies was still running when deputies arrived. The driver’s side door was open, the tailgate was down and drag marks were visible in the dirt leading into the woods where Robbins and Folds were found.

Segrest said investigators believe Robbins killed Folds in an act of domestic violence. He also said he believed everything happened the night before the bodies were discovered, citing the fact that the truck was still running.

Folds was remembered by loved ones as a mother of three adult sons. Her obituary said she “touched the lives of many with her heart of gold, deep love for everyone, and a smile that brightened the world.”

Robbins was survived by a daughter, according to his obituary.
