Three juveniles have been charged following the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old Missouri girl whose body was allegedly left inside her home for hours.
Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office discovered Gabbriana Boyster dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head after responding to the home on the afternoon of Saturday, July 11, according to a department press release.
Investigators believe the shooting happened the previous day and said the teenager’s body had been “abandoned for hours” before authorities were called.
Three juveniles who were allegedly present when the shooting occurred were later identified and taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
All three have been charged with abandonment of a corpse, according to an update posted on Facebook.
One of the juveniles is also facing more serious charges, including involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
That juvenile remains in the custody of the Jefferson County Juvenile Office, while the other two have been released. Authorities have not publicly released additional details about what allegedly led to the shooting.
Following Gabbriana’s death, a GoFundMe campaign was created to help her family pay for memorial expenses.
“Gabby was the kind of person who would always make you smile,” the fundraiser reads. “She was beautiful inside and out, full of laughter, endless giggles, and a smile that made everyone around her feel at home.”
As of July 16, the campaign had raised nearly all of its $20,000 goal.
