A groom is facing disturbing allegations after police say he raped a guest on the night of his own wedding in Pennsylvania.
Zachary Prouty, 38, was arrested on multiple charges, including rape and sexual assault, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by ABC 27, CBS 21 and the York Daily Record.
It is unclear whether Prouty has entered a plea or hired an attorney to speak on his behalf.
The investigation began on Oct. 17, 2025, when officers with the Bonneauville Borough Police Department responded to Gettysburg Hospital and spoke with a woman who had undergone a sexual assault examination.
According to the affidavit, the woman told police she had attended Prouty’s wedding the night before and had been drinking alcohol. She planned to spend the night at a Gettysburg home with several other guests.
The woman said that after the others went to bed, she was left alone with Prouty on a couch. She alleged that he kissed her without her consent.
She claimed Prouty then followed her into another room, where the unwanted behavior continued.
The woman told investigators that she later lost consciousness and woke up the following morning in an unfamiliar bedroom. Her clothes were reportedly on the floor.
Police said Prouty declined to comment when investigators contacted him.
Authorities later obtained a DNA sample from Prouty and submitted it for testing. Investigators allege that the sample matched DNA collected during the woman’s sexual assault examination.
Prouty appeared in court on Thursday, July 16, and was released after posting $50,000 bail, according to the York Daily Record, which cited court records.
The Kentucky resident is expected to return to court in August.
