A Florida man is behind bars after authorities say he stalked his ex-girlfriend, hacked into her social media accounts and used a stuffed animal containing her late son’s ashes to threaten her.
Justin Fountain, 31, was arrested after the woman went to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office on August 1 and reported that he had been harassing and stalking her, according to an arrest affidavit.
The woman told deputies that she met Fountain through Facebook Dating and ended the relationship after just three weeks.
She initially allowed him to continue staying in her hotel room after the breakup, but later told him to leave after allegedly finding smoking pipes and learning that he had used crack cocaine in the bathroom.
According to the affidavit, the situation quickly escalated.
Fountain allegedly gained access to the woman’s Apple iCloud, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other online accounts without her permission. Authorities say he then contacted her friends and relatives while pretending to be her.
The woman also claimed Fountain showed up unexpectedly at her workplace and started an argument, leaving her frightened for her safety.
She reached out to a male friend for protection. That man later told deputies he witnessed Fountain harassing her at a nearby restaurant just hours later.
The woman also reported that Fountain had taken a stuffed animal containing the ashes of her deceased son.
Authorities say Fountain began sending threatening messages demanding that she meet him before he would return the ashes.
The texts allegedly continued while the woman was inside the sheriff’s office, allowing deputies to see the messages as they arrived.
“I will not go away peacefully,” one message allegedly read. “I’ll make every day of your life a living hell. I promise you.”
In another message, Fountain allegedly wrote, “If you want your son back, tell Buddy to leave now,” referring to the male friend who had accompanied the woman.
Investigators said Fountain also obtained the man’s phone number and began contacting him.
At one point, Fountain allegedly threatened to set the stuffed animal on fire.
Deputies determined they had enough evidence to make an arrest and tracked Fountain down. Authorities said he was easy to identify because of a distinctive tattoo above his eye that reads “Game Over.”
Fountain was taken to the Flagler County jail and is facing six felony charges, including malicious threats, cyberstalking and unauthorized access to an electronic device.
His bond was set at $61,000.
Fountain had not entered a plea as of the latest available court records. The allegations against him have not been proven in court.
