A Costco employee is accused of intentionally crashing his car into a coworker’s motorcycle and killing him after allegedly becoming enraged over a hug with a female colleague.
Tyler Sorensen, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Jonathon Langdon following the July 31 crash in Issaquah, Washington.
According to court documents cited by local media, Sorensen allegedly followed Langdon out of a Costco parking lot before swerving his sedan into the motorcycle around 9 p.m.

Surveillance footage captured the crash, according to the Issaquah Police Department, which said the video showed the suspect vehicle striking the motorcycle and causing the rider to lose control.
Court records reportedly state that Langdon then slammed into a metal signpost with tremendous force before landing face down.
He died at the scene despite efforts to save him.
Langdon was wearing a helmet at the time.
Prosecutors allege the deadly confrontation began after Sorensen saw Langdon hug a female Costco coworker in the parking lot.
Sorensen was reportedly interested in the woman and later told police she was his ex-girlfriend.
The woman, however, reportedly told investigators that they had not been dating and that she had previously warned Sorensen he was crossing boundaries.
Authorities say Sorensen became increasingly angry after seeing the hug.
He allegedly sent a photo of Langdon and the woman embracing to friends along with a message that read, “Always told me he was just a friend.”
“My blood is boiling,” he allegedly wrote.
Prosecutors also allege that Sorensen nearly struck both Langdon and the woman with his car while they were still in the Costco parking lot.
He then allegedly waited approximately 10 minutes for Langdon to leave before following him.
Police say Sorensen later admitted that he deliberately hit the motorcycle because he was angry.
“It was stupid but I, I was, I meant to do it,” he reportedly told detectives.
At the same time, Sorensen allegedly claimed he did not intend to actually hit Langdon and instead only wanted to frighten or “spook” him.
After the crash, authorities say Sorensen drove away instead of stopping to help.
He allegedly pulled over only to inspect the damage to his own vehicle.
Shortly afterward, Sorensen was reportedly stopped by police and issued a speeding ticket, apparently before officers had connected him to the fatal crash.
He then drove home.
According to prosecutors, Sorensen sent another message to friends after the collision saying, “I f—ed up bad.”
About an hour after the crash, Sorensen’s father reportedly learned what had happened and brought his son back to the scene, where Sorensen surrendered to police.
During his arraignment on Thursday, Aug. 6, Sorensen pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
A judge set his bail at $2 million.
Sorensen, who is being held in the King County Jail, was also ordered not to contact Langdon’s family, the female coworker or any witnesses connected to the case.
He is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 27.
It was not immediately clear whether Sorensen had retained an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
Costco has also been contacted for comment.
