A Georgia mother of three was shot and killed outside her home in what authorities say was a murder-suicide that unfolded shortly after she dropped two of her children off at school.
Nicole Karastury Elliott, 35, was found with a gunshot wound to the head outside her home near Waverly Hall on Monday, Aug. 17.
Investigators say her boyfriend, 36-year-old Andrew Roy Harris, was responsible for the shooting.
Harris was found dead the following day inside a room at a Days Inn hotel in Phenix City. Authorities said he had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.
Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley said the couple had argued the night before over prescription medication belonging to one of Elliott’s children.
Investigators later reviewed chilling footage from a Ring camera that reportedly captured Elliott pleading with Harris moments before the shooting.
“We heard the voices on the Ring camera where she had yelled, ‘Don’t do it,’” Jolley said during a press conference on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
“We heard the gunfire. And then we heard her call his name out. ‘Don’t, don’t do it,’ and called his name out on the Ring camera.”
The tragedy left Elliott’s three children, ages 14, 10 and 6, without their mother.
Jolley said one of the most difficult parts of the investigation was telling the children what had happened.
“To make that notification yesterday to those three kids that their mother is no longer with us was heart-wrenching,” he said.
“It’s never an easy thing to do, but when you tell three young kids that their mother is no longer here it’s heartbreaking.”
According to a GoFundMe created for the family, Elliott and her children had only recently moved into a new home.
The children were reportedly thrilled to finally have bedrooms of their own.
“Nicole was an amazing woman, mother, and friend with a huge heart who was always willing to help anyone in need,” the fundraiser said.
“Her family is now left trying to process this heartbreaking tragedy and make sense of a loss that feels impossible to understand.”
Authorities have described the deaths as a murder-suicide.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Just simply too many nutjobs under the age of 60 in this dying country.
