Five restaurant workers were stabbed inside the kitchen of a California casino, and one of their own coworkers has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The attack happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, inside the Dos Coyotes restaurant at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies rushed to the casino and took a suspect into custody within minutes.

Authorities later identified the man as Joseph Naugle.

All five victims and Naugle worked at the restaurant, a Thunder Valley Casino spokesperson told CBS Sacramento.

Officials said the violence was contained to the restaurant’s kitchen and no casino guests were involved.

One of the victims was taken to a hospital, but authorities said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The other four victims were treated at the scene by Thunder Valley Casino emergency medical staff and Cal Fire.

None of the five workers suffered injuries believed to be life-threatening.

CBS Sacramento footage showed Naugle being placed into a sheriff’s vehicle while apparently still wearing a kitchen apron.

Investigators said Naugle appeared to know all five people who were attacked.

He was booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.

Additional charges are expected, according to KCRA.

Authorities have not revealed what may have triggered the stabbing.

The sheriff’s office said investigators were not searching for any additional suspects and there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Thunder Valley Casino remained open after the attack.

The investigation is continuing as authorities work to determine exactly what led to the violent confrontation.
