A pregnant woman in Texas is recovering after a disturbing attack that authorities say involved her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend.

Police arrested 19-year-old Carrieale Williams on Thursday, Aug. 20, after deputies were called to a home on Dona Lane in northeast Houston for what was described as a “life-in-danger” situation.

According to court records cited by local news outlets, the pregnant woman had been invited to the home to visit Williams.

But during the visit, investigators say things suddenly turned violent.

Authorities allege Williams had a knife and tried to keep it hidden from the woman. When the victim attempted to grab the weapon, Williams allegedly stabbed her in the face.

The woman suffered stab wounds to her face, arms and hands before deputies arrived.

She was rushed to a hospital, where her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Investigators say the two women knew each other through church. Court documents also allege the victim was dating Williams’ ex-boyfriend.

Authorities have not publicly revealed a motive for the stabbing, and it remains unclear how far along the victim is in her pregnancy.

The case took another shocking turn during Williams’ court appearance on Friday, Aug. 21.

A judge noted that Williams had previously been accused of assaulting another pregnant woman in a separate case last year.

That alleged victim was reportedly Williams’ sister. The earlier case was eventually dismissed at the complainant’s request after Williams completed a 10-hour anger management course.

The judge also said Williams herself was allegedly pregnant at the time of the latest incident, according to KHOU.

Williams is now charged with aggravated assault.

Charging documents accuse her of intentionally, knowingly or recklessly injuring the woman by stabbing her with a deadly weapon.

She is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 24.
