Woman Kills Boyfriend After He Broke Up with Her During Park Meetup

A 65-year-old Alabama woman has been indicted for murder after authorities say a breakup during a park meetup turned deadly.

Bonita Yvette Brown is accused of shooting her boyfriend, 64-year-old Thomas Williams, three times after he allegedly ended their relationship immediately after the two met to have sex.

Williams, a U.S. Army veteran, was found lying in the road in Birmingham on Nov. 23, 2025, after a passerby called 911 around 2 p.m.

Police responded to the 1700 block of Maple Avenue near Birmingham Park and found Williams unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators later determined that the shooting had happened shortly after 12:30 p.m.

According to local reports, there were no shell casings near Williams’ body, and his cellphone appeared to be missing.

Detectives then began tracing his final movements and communications.

Authorities reportedly used phone records and smartwatch data to connect Williams to a phone number belonging to Brown. The two had exchanged messages in the hours leading up to his death.

Investigators also said Flock camera footage placed a vehicle believed to be Brown’s near the park before and after the shooting.

When detectives questioned Brown, she allegedly confirmed that the phone number and vehicle were hers and acknowledged that she had been dating Williams.

Then came the alleged confession.

According to a bond order cited by AL.com, Brown admitted meeting Williams at the park to have sex and said that when he broke up with her immediately afterward, she “snapped” and shot him three times.

The judge wrote that Brown also told investigators where they could find the gun and the shell casings.

Authorities later recovered both from her home.

A Jefferson County grand jury has now indicted Brown on one count of murder.

During a detention hearing in December 2025, prosecutors argued that Brown should be held without bond.

Her attorney pushed for her release, pointing to her lack of a criminal record and saying she was the primary caregiver for her daughter.

The judge ultimately set bond at $100,000.

Brown posted bond and was released under conditions that include not possessing a firearm and attending treatment sessions every two weeks.

The case is now moving forward in Jefferson County, with prosecutors alleging that a breakup in the park ended with Williams being shot and Brown taking steps to hide evidence afterward.
