A New Jersey woman accused of trying to hire someone to kill her ex-boyfriend and his teenage daughter allegedly made one major mistake — the man she contacted was secretly working with investigators.
Jaclyn D. Diiorio, 28, of Runnemede, is now facing federal charges over the alleged murder-for-hire plot, more than a year after authorities say she tried to arrange the killings.
Federal prosecutors say Diiorio wanted her 53-year-old ex-boyfriend, a Philadelphia police officer, killed along with his 19-year-old daughter.
The alleged scheme began in March 2025, shortly after Diiorio and the officer ended their relationship.
According to investigators, Diiorio connected with a confidential informant on Tinder and eventually met him in person at a Wawa in Runnemede on March 31.
Over the next several days, the two allegedly exchanged texts and phone calls as Diiorio discussed the killings and what she wanted done.
Authorities say she offered about $12,000 to have both victims killed.
On April 4, Diiorio allegedly met the informant again, this time in the parking lot of a Dollar General store in Gloucester Township.
During that meeting, prosecutors say she handed him $500 in cash as a down payment.
But the alleged hitman was actually cooperating with law enforcement.
Diiorio was arrested shortly after the exchange by the Gloucester Township Police Department’s Special Response Team.
She was initially charged in New Jersey with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder and one count of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
The alleged plot came less than a month after Diiorio and her former boyfriend broke up on March 6, 2025.
Court records previously reported by NBC10 Philadelphia said the two met while Diiorio was working as the officer’s barber.
Their relationship had reportedly been troubled before the breakup.
Diiorio filed for a temporary restraining order against him during the summer of 2024 but later dropped it.
Federal prosecutors announced additional charges against Diiorio on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
She has now been charged with two federal counts related to allegedly arranging murders for hire.
Diiorio appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Scott W. Reid and is being held in federal custody while awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for Sept. 14.
The federal indictment also seeks the forfeiture of property prosecutors say was used or intended to be used in the alleged crimes, including the $500 cash payment.
If convicted on the federal charges, Diiorio could face up to 20 years in prison.
The case remains ongoing.
