A 14-year-old driver crashed while running away from police, killing a passenger trapped when the vehicle burst into flames, California PD reported.
A police officer tried to pull over a vehicle driving without headlights shortly after midnight Tuesday, Feb. 20, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told McClatchy News.
The driver, later revealed to be a 14-year-old girl, sped away, police said. The officer did not give chase, but the teen crashed trying to make a left turn. The vehicle hit a building and burst into flames, police said.
Officers pulled the 14-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger from the burning wreck, police told KTTV. But another passenger trapped in the back seat died. The crashed vehicle had been reported as stolen, police told KCAL.
The driver and surviving passenger were taken to a hospital, police said. The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed. “There are some families that are going to be suffering as a result of this. It’s absolutely terrible,” Capt. Jeff Hollis told KTLA.

Regular or extra crispy?
The 16 year old girl who burned alive probably didn’t know the car was stolen from the parents. So horrific. Stupid 14 year old driver.
Carlos Alcado? SIMPLY TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM POLICE??? Like Wow Dude she was just joy riding, running from the man and bang man she lost control and all she was doin was SIMPLY trying to get away from Police??? And this is a Reporter? Sounds like a Previos Gang member to me
I thought the same thing. Like running from the police is an everyday thing. I think the parents of this kid lost control of them a long time ago if they are stealing your car. I also question the other kids parents, they had to know they shouldn’t have allowed their kids around this kid that was driving. Parents lose control of their kids and just give up. If you aren’t willing to put in the work don’t have kids! Know who their friends are and where they are, not just out roaming around looking for trouble.
