An Ohio man is behind bars after allegedly setting the mother of his child on fire in a horrifying domestic attack that left her with severe burns and in need of multiple surgeries.

Delvon Stone, 33, has been charged with aggravated arson, felonious assault, and domestic violence after police say he doused the woman in gasoline and lit her ablaze on April 28. The incident took place in Toledo, according to a criminal complaint filed last week in municipal court.

Authorities say the victim — who shares a child with Stone — survived the attack and later told investigators what happened.

“She was the source of the information,” the complaint reads. “The defendant assaulted the victim by dousing her with gasoline and lighting her on fire. This caused severe burns to her body causing her to seek medical treatment and surgeries.”

Stone, who has at least two prior domestic violence convictions, was arrested after speaking with detectives. He appeared in court Tuesday, where a judge set his bond at $250,000. A temporary protection order was also issued to protect the victim.

Court records show Stone requested a public defender. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 3.

In Ohio, aggravated arson is considered a first-degree felony and carries a potential prison sentence of up to 11 years. The felonious assault charge could add up to 8 more years if he’s convicted.
