A Memorial Day domestic violence call ended in tragedy when an Ohio sheriff’s deputy was gunned down while trying to defuse a volatile situation.
Deputy Daniel Sherrer, 31, a four-year veteran of the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, was allegedly shot and killed Monday by Brian Michael Wilson, 53, after arriving at Wilson’s home to investigate a disturbance.
Sherrer’s body camera reportedly captured the chilling final moments of the encounter. According to reports, Wilson was sitting on his front porch, armed and already issuing threats before the deputy even approached.
“Don’t come up here,” Wilson allegedly warned, followed by, “Don’t f—ing come around that corner, I will f—ing kill you.” He continued yelling, telling the deputy, “I’m not f—ing playing,” and warning him to leave if he wanted to “see [his] family tomorrow.”
Despite the threats, Sherrer attempted to communicate with Wilson — but was met with gunfire. According to court records, Wilson used two handguns during the attack, both of which were recovered at the scene. Audio from Sherrer’s body cam reportedly captured the chilling sound of Wilson’s weapon clicking as it ran out of ammunition.
One neighbor later told police that Wilson had ominously warned them earlier that night: “If I were to die tonight, I’d be okay with it.”
The shooting left Sherrer mortally wounded. Wilson was also shot during the incident and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He now faces charges of aggravated murder.
Wilson has a lengthy criminal history dating back to the 1990s, including a previous domestic violence arrest in nearby Marion County in 2009.

So sad! The officer probably needed to call for backup when he saw that tub of lard sitting on the porch with a gun.
I was a police officer in Florida decades ago.
The biggest A-holes we arrested were typically from Ohio.
Condolences to this Deputy’s family. Totally inexcusable.
