Three young sisters from Washington State who vanished during a scheduled visit with their father have been found dead, triggering a statewide manhunt for the girls’ missing dad.
Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5, were last seen on Friday, May 30, when they left home for a planned visitation with their father, 32-year-old Travis Decker. Just three days later, on Monday afternoon, June 2, police located their father’s car near the Rock Island Campground in Chelan County. The girls’ bodies were discovered shortly after at 3:45 p.m., according to a statement from the Wenatchee Police Department.
Authorities have not revealed how the sisters died or exactly where they were found. What’s clear is that their father is now the focus of a major manhunt.
Travis Decker is wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping. Police warn that he may be dangerous and has former military experience, adding, “It is unknown whether Decker is currently armed, but he may pose a significant risk if approached.”
Decker had already been facing a custodial interference charge prior to the girls’ disappearance. Authorities had previously described him as homeless, often living out of his white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck or staying at local motels and campgrounds.
The visitation was originally authorized as part of a parenting plan, but police say Decker quickly violated the terms by failing to return the girls on time. When family members couldn’t reach him, the situation escalated into a missing persons investigation.
An endangered missing person alert was issued on Saturday, May 31, and images of the girls and their father circulated widely across the state. That alert was quietly canceled on Monday, but only now have the devastating details come to light.
As the search for Travis Decker intensifies, law enforcement is urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 190 pounds, and was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts.
