Elderly Man Urinates on Thousands Worth of Food at Sam’s Club

A 70-year-old Florida man has landed in hot water after allegedly urinating on more than $10,000 worth of food at a Sam’s Club store — and the bizarre incident was all caught on camera.

Patrick Francis Mitchell was arrested on June 4 and charged with criminal mischief causing over $1,000 in damages, along with disorderly conduct, according to Lake County public records.

The alleged act took place around 9:49 a.m. on May 30 at a Sam’s Club in Lady Lake, just outside Orlando. According to court documents, Mitchell was seen relieving himself in an aisle by a female customer who snapped photos on her phone and immediately showed them to store staff.

Surveillance footage later confirmed what employees feared. The video reportedly shows Mitchell walking up to two pallets, turning toward a shelf, placing his hands in front of him, and standing still for several seconds — behavior investigators say is “consistent with urination.”

The store’s losses? Nearly $11,000 worth of canned goods — specifically, 188 cans of Vienna sausage and 345 cans of Spam. According to the court filing, the contaminated products had to be discarded.

The affidavit also revealed that Mitchell wandered around the snack aisle and even took a break on the store’s patio furniture for about 10 minutes before checking out and leaving like nothing had happened.

Thanks to Mitchell’s Sam’s Club membership, store staff were able to provide his name and contact details to the police, leading to his arrest.

Mitchell has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His next court appearance is set for June 30. Neither his attorney nor the Lady Lake Police Department have responded to requests for comment.
