Man Accused of Killing Boy and Woman in Two Separate Hit-and-Runs Months Apart

A 24-year-old Alabama man is facing serious charges after allegedly causing two deadly hit-and-run crashes just five months apart—and police believe alcohol may have played a role in both tragedies.

Antonio Tremayne Weldon Jr. is now charged with two counts of reckless manslaughter and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.

The first victim was 13-year-old Braylen Hardy, who was sitting on his ATV in front of his Birmingham home on the night of October 26, 2024, when a vehicle jumped the curb and struck him. Hardy, who loved riding the ATV with his dad, had just pulled up to his house when the crash happened, his uncle told WBRC.

Authorities said there had been gunfire in the area moments before the crash, and the vehicle that struck Hardy was reportedly speeding away from the scene when it veered off the road.

Weldon, the suspected driver, allegedly fled on foot but was caught a few blocks away. At the time, he was already facing other charges including attempting to elude police, reckless endangerment, and receiving stolen property.

Hardy was rushed to a nearby hospital and placed on a ventilator, but tragically, he died three days later.

Despite being questioned by police after the crash, Weldon was initially released. It wasn’t until July 8, 2025, that he was officially charged, following a review by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

Then came another tragedy.

On March 29, 2025, 34-year-old Michelle Lynn Dickerson was riding her bike on a Friday night when she was hit by a vehicle in Birmingham. She died the next day. Weldon was arrested in connection to that crash as well last month.

Authorities haven’t confirmed whether the same vehicle was involved in both crashes, but investigators suspect alcohol contributed to both incidents.

Hardy’s family is still reeling from the loss.

“It’s rough,” his uncle said. “It’s like we’re in a nightmare we just can’t wake up from.”

Weldon remains in custody on a $30,000 bond.
