A 63-year-old Texas woman is facing serious charges after allegedly hatching a bizarre murder plot involving fentanyl-laced chocolates — with her ex-husband as the target.
According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, Pamela Stanley was caught on tape discussing a plan to buy powdered fentanyl and inject it into a box of luxury chocolates. Her goal? To kill her ex by sending the tainted treats under the guise of a congratulatory gift from a fake travel agency, complete with a phony honeymoon offer tied to his recent engagement.
Stanley allegedly drove several miles from her home in Coleman, Texas, to a motel where she thought she was meeting a dealer. But the “dealer” turned out to be an undercover cop. She was arrested on the spot.
Authorities say they also found 9.5 grams of methamphetamine in Stanley’s possession at the time of her arrest.
She now faces multiple charges, including criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
NBC 5 spoke with Stanley’s ex-husband, Jeffrey Kauth, who says the two have been divorced since 2019. He admitted the twisted plot could have worked.
“It was a pretty ingenious plan,” Kauth said. “I would have probably eaten the chocolates. My fiancée would have eaten the chocolate, but even worse, we have two minor children here. I’m sure they would have eaten some as well. And she has no remorse.”
Kauth says he feels a massive sense of relief now that Stanley is in custody.
“Relief, just relief,” he said. “I’m so happy that they’ve got her behind bars.”
As of now, it’s unclear if Stanley has entered a plea.
