Three people have been arrested after the body of a 7-year-old boy was found inside a freezer at a home in Los Angeles County.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department made the horrific discovery during a welfare check at an apartment in Lynwood, California, on Tuesday, October 28, according to multiple reports.
Police were called to the residence after receiving a report about a dead child. When they entered the home, they found the boy’s body hidden in a freezer.
Following the discovery, officers arrested the boy’s mother, Destiny Harrison, 25, who is being held on suspicion of murder. The boy’s father, Daniel Monzon, also 25, and his grandmother, Ana Zarceno-Carcamo, 46, were both taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
All three are being held on $2 million bail, according to jail records. It’s not yet clear if formal charges have been filed. Authorities have not released the identity of the young victim or his cause of death.
Three other children — a 9-month-old baby, a 13-year-old, and a 16-year-old — were also found in the home and have since been placed in protective custody, according to KNBC.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine what led to the child’s death.
