A Texas court has sentenced 54-year-old Cynthia Ellen Ming to 50 years in prison for the fatal 2022 shooting of her neighbor, Angie Melissa Moore. Ming pleaded guilty to the murder, which she admitted committing while “bugged out” following an electrocution in her home.

The horrifying events unfolded on the night of September 7, 2022, in Lacy Lakeview, Texas, near Waco. Ming broke into Moore’s home on Whispering Avenue. According to police affidavits, Moore called 911 shortly before midnight to report the attempted break-in, warning the dispatcher that she had a gun and would use it in self-defense if necessary.

Officers arrived within minutes to find Ming leaving the home, naked and covered in blood. A Taser was initially ineffective, and she was eventually detained. Inside, deputies discovered Moore lying in a pool of blood. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

During treatment at a hospital for lacerations reportedly sustained during the break-in, Ming admitted to grabbing Moore’s shotgun and shooting her in the head after alleging that Moore had killed her dog. Shockingly, Ming also admitted to drinking Moore’s blood, a claim corroborated by hospital records.

Ming told evaluators that she had been electrocuted by a live wire in her home just before the shooting, which left her feeling disoriented and “bugged out.” According to the report, she recalled, “The last thing I remember” is the light fixture that shocked her.

Court records also reveal a long history of mental health issues, including diagnoses of borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type.

The victim’s family described Moore, a mother to a 16-year-old son, as a beloved woman whose life was tragically cut short. During the sentencing hearing, Moore’s parents delivered emotional statements, calling Ming “a force of pure evil” and recounting years of what they described as harassing behavior. Moore’s son, now orphaned, had a song he wrote about his mother’s death read aloud in court, including the haunting lyrics: “She was Satan’s puppet… She shed my mother’s innocent blood.”

Earlier in December 2025, Ming had entered a not guilty by reason of insanity plea, prompting multiple psychological evaluations. Prosecutors’ experts, however, concluded that despite her mental illnesses, Ming was sane at the time of the murder and capable of understanding right from wrong.

Ming ultimately accepted a plea deal, admitting to the lesser charge of murder to avoid a potential capital murder conviction. She was sentenced to 50 years in prison and will be eligible for parole after 25 years, though prosecutors cautioned that release is unlikely given the brutality of her crime.

  1. I dont understand how she even got into the house and was able to grab the shotgun, when the homeowner should have shot her as soon as she saw her break. This is a lesson to never hesitate and the need to just shoot the intruder immediately.
