Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were briefly delayed on their holiday travels after getting pulled over for speeding — and the festive traffic stop quickly turned into a moment of Christmas cheer.
According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy clocked a driver going over the 55 mph speed limit in Fulton County, Ohio, on Tuesday, Dec. 23. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he immediately burst out laughing.
“Santa!” the deputy exclaimed after realizing who was behind the wheel.
Body camera footage released by the sheriff’s office shows the deputy explaining the reason for the stop before asking Santa for his driver’s license. As Santa stepped out of the car to retrieve it, the deputy jokingly said, “There goes my presents!”
Mrs. Claus, sitting in the passenger seat, could be seen laughing along with the exchange.
Despite the holiday rush, Santa didn’t end up with a ticket. Instead, the deputy issued a warning and reminded him to slow down.
“Santa! Slow your speed,” the deputy said.
Santa fired back with a grin, “I’ll call Rudolph on you.”
Mrs. Claus chimed in as well, reminding everyone, “It’s Nick, you know,” before snapping a photo of Santa and the deputy together. She even handed over a candy cane as a parting gift.

The sheriff’s office later shared the moment on Facebook, assuring the public that Christmas was still on schedule.
“No coal was issued — just a friendly reminder that even sleighs need to slow down,” the post read. “Stay safe and happy holidays!”
Even Santa, it turns out, isn’t immune to traffic laws — but at least this stop came with laughs, candy canes, and plenty of holiday spirit. 🎄🚓
