A day after Christmas turned into a devastating crime scene in rural Pennsylvania after police say a teenage son shot both of his parents — killing his mother and critically injuring his father — before fleeing and triggering a multi-state manhunt.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were called to a home on Garrison Road in Freeport Township around 1:58 p.m. Friday, December 26, following reports of a shooting involving two victims.

When officers arrived, they found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a hospital in nearby Morgantown, where she later died from her injuries.

An adult male victim was also found at the home with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the same hospital and later released in stable condition, police said.

Investigators determined the victims were husband and wife. Their 18-year-old son, Jarrod Noll, was identified as the alleged shooter.

After the shooting, authorities say Noll fled the scene on foot. State police launched an urgent manhunt, warning residents that he could be armed and dangerous and urging the public not to approach him if spotted.

“We used tracking dogs, helicopters, and officers on foot searching rough terrain,” PSP Sergeant Richard Sizer told CBS News. “When you have someone on the run with a homicide warrant and a gun, it’s a huge danger to the community.”

Police later confirmed that Noll’s younger siblings were inside the home at the time of the incident, though the shooting itself occurred outside. The children have since been placed in the care of another family member.

The search stretched across state lines and ended Saturday evening. In an update posted at 6:01 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police announced that Noll had been taken into custody by the West Virginia State Police without incident.

Noll remains in custody in West Virginia as he awaits extradition back to Pennsylvania. Authorities say he has been charged with homicide and attempted homicide.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue piecing together what led to the deadly shooting just one day after Christmas.
