A Wisconsin man will spend more than a decade in prison after admitting he threw his 8-month-old baby against a wall in a burst of rage sparked by a video game.
Jalin A. White, 22, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of physical abuse of a child causing great bodily harm and one count of child neglect resulting in great bodily harm, according to a plea agreement obtained. A judge accepted the deal and sentenced White to 12 years in prison followed by seven years of probation, slightly below the state’s request for a longer sentence.
The sentencing was handed down in Milwaukee County Circuit Court by Judge Anderson M. Gansner.
The horrific incident happened on Nov. 5, 2024, inside a shared family home on Milwaukee’s 42nd Street. Court records say White was alone in a rented bedroom with his infant son, identified as JW, while the child’s mother stepped out briefly.
According to investigators, the baby was healthy when his mother left. When she returned, she found her son barely breathing inside his playpen, making unusual noises as his right arm twitched. As she picked him up, White allegedly became angry and demanded she hand the baby back.
Instead, the mother rushed JW to her father, who immediately told her to call 911.
The infant was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered devastating injuries: skull fractures, six broken ribs, and a previously healing broken collarbone. At one point, JW lost his pulse and required multiple rounds of CPR. Prosecutors said he was not initially expected to survive but ultimately pulled through after intensive treatment.
When questioned by detectives, White gave multiple explanations for the injuries, including claiming the baby fell from an air mattress. None matched the severity of the trauma.
Eventually, under continued questioning, White admitted the truth.
He told investigators he was playing NBA 2K and became furious because he was losing by two points late in the fourth quarter. While holding his son to “keep him calm,” White said the baby felt heavy, and in a moment of anger, he threw the child against the wall.
According to White’s own account, the infant struck the wall roughly a foot above the bed before landing face-first. He repeatedly emphasized how hard the impact was, telling detectives he heard a loud bang when his son’s head hit the wall.
Prosecutors referenced that statement during court proceedings, underscoring the violence of the act.
At sentencing, White received nine years for the child abuse charge and three years for the neglect charge. He was credited with 419 days already served in pretrial detention.
In addition to prison time, White must complete court-ordered treatment and parenting programs after his release. He is also permanently prohibited from using corporal punishment on any child who may come into his care.

They know how to have babies but the asses don’t know how to care of them.Take this demonic man and give him the same treatment
Absolutely! He needs the same treatment, with the same force. A plea deal? We MUST stop giving criminals/murderers plea deals! Throw the demon against the wall, then straight to the prison cell. He wouldn’t deserve treatment. And he certainly doesn’t deserve a plea deal.
