A video game argument inside an Oklahoma City home turned deadly after a teenager allegedly became enraged and repeatedly stabbed his older brother, according to police.

The violence unfolded around 8:30 p.m. Sunday at a residence near Southeast 44th Street and Bryant Avenue in Oklahoma City. Master Sgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department said officers were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance after the suspect himself called 911.

Police said 19-year-old William Spencer told the dispatcher that he had stabbed his brother, 25-year-old Nicholas Spencer. When officers arrived, they found Nicholas inside the home suffering from multiple serious stab wounds.

Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save him and pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.

“Very tragic story,” Knight said during a press briefing. “Two brothers who were playing video games. One became enraged over the game, got mad at the other and simply stabbed him to death.”

Authorities said William Spencer remained at the scene following the attack. He was taken into custody, questioned by investigators, and later booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.

Police said the teen admitted to his role in the killing. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $10 million bond. His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.

Investigators noted the deadly stabbing was one of four homicides reported in Oklahoma City over the weekend — a spike police described as highly unusual.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review the circumstances surrounding the deadly confrontation.
