A Delaware school bus driver is facing criminal charges after police say he picked up a prostitute and engaged in sex acts inside a school bus — an incident uncovered during a routine video review for an unrelated matter.
According to authorities, 62-year-old Alvin Rohm was identified after a school district employee in Dover reviewed surveillance footage from the bus earlier this month. Instead of finding evidence connected to the original investigation, the employee allegedly discovered video showing Rohm picking up a woman on Jan. 6.
Police said the footage shows Rohm driving the school bus to a nearby location on Jerusalem Way, where he parked. Once stopped, investigators say the video captures Rohm engaging in sex acts with the woman and exchanging money.
Authorities did not specify the exact time the incident occurred, nor did they confirm whether Rohm transported students on the bus that day. Police emphasized that Rohm was not a direct employee of the school district but worked for a contracted transportation service.
The activity allegedly took place on Jerusalem Way, a short road in downtown Dover that is located within 1,000 feet of a church, according to police.
Rohm was later charged with lewdness and patronizing a prostitute within 1,000 feet of a school, residence, church, or similar location. He was arrested on Jan. 12 and later released on bond.
The case remains under investigation by the Dover Police Department.
