David Krause (victim)

A heartbreaking case out of Wisconsin is raising serious concerns after three teenagers were charged in the deadly shooting of a man who thought he was getting a ride to safety.

Authorities say 35-year-old David Krause was killed on the night of April 14 in Milwaukee after accepting a ride from a group of teens during a heavy rainstorm.

According to investigators, Krause had taken shelter at a gas station when he realized he didn’t have access to a car. He called his girlfriend and told her he was “getting a ride from some kids” — a decision that would turn deadly just minutes later.

Prosecutors say Krause got into a car with three teenagers, and the group drove only a few blocks before things took a terrifying turn.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Krause suddenly jumping out of the vehicle and running toward a nearby bar as two of the teens chased after him. A struggle broke out, and during the confrontation, one of the teens allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him.

The suspects then jumped back into the car — which authorities believe may have been stolen — and fled the scene.

Krause died from his injuries.

Two weeks later, three juvenile suspects were charged with felony murder and armed robbery. One of them is reportedly just 14 years old.

In a shocking twist, officials say the 14-year-old suspect was initially arrested but was accidentally released before being taken back into custody days later.

Because of their ages, authorities have not released additional details about the other two suspects.

Krause’s family says his trusting nature may have played a role in what happened.

“He had so much faith in people,” his sister said. “That’s the reason why he’s not here today.”

  1. I don’t think 14 is too young for someone to get capital punishment. If they think it is okay to kill at this age, why do you think they will not do it again? Especially if they get away with it! Don’t tell me about their childhood, and what a horrible time they had growing up, because if he is old enough and smart enough to commit murder, then he is old enough to suffer the consequences!!!!

  2. These teenagers committed an adult crying so they have taken an innocent life why are they allowed to walk so they can do it again
