A Texas fast-food worker is facing serious charges after police say he pulled off a bizarre scheme involving one of Chick-fil-A’s most popular menu items — mac and cheese.
According to authorities, 23-year-old Keyshun Jones, a former employee at a Chick-fil-A in the Dallas suburb of Grapevine, was arrested on April 17 after allegedly stealing more than $80,000 from the restaurant in a way that left investigators stunned.
Police say the scheme started back in November 2025, when the restaurant’s owner reported suspicious activity. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and claim it showed Jones — who had been fired about a month earlier — somehow getting behind the counter while unattended.
That’s when things got wild.
Investigators say Jones rang up roughly 800 orders of mac and cheese trays at the register… then refunded the money straight to his own personal credit cards. By the time it was over, police say the total came out to just over $80,000.
After the alleged scam, authorities say Jones managed to avoid arrest for months, dodging multiple attempts by police to track him down.
His run didn’t last forever.
He was finally taken into custody on April 17 and is now facing charges including property theft, money laundering, and evading arrest. As of the end of April, he remained behind bars in Tarrant County with a bond set at $110,000.
Officials say the investigation is still ongoing, and the case has raised eyebrows for both the amount of money involved — and the unusual method used to pull it off.
Turns out, this wasn’t just comfort food… it may have been the centerpiece of an $80,000 scheme.
