A late-night fight at a Virginia gas station turned deadly after police say a man was stabbed near the pumps during an altercation with an employee.
The victim has been identified by WJLA as 20-year-old Jonathan David Ferreyra Agapito.
Police said the violence unfolded around midnight Sunday at a Shell gas station on Dumfries Road in Dumfries, Virginia, about 30 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, Agapito got into a physical fight with an employee at the business. The employee was later identified as 42-year-old Michael Orlando Dickey.
As the fight continued, police said Dickey allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Agapito once in the upper body.
Agapito collapsed near the gas pumps and became unresponsive.
Officers were called to the scene for a reported stabbing. When they arrived, they found the young man suffering from a stab wound near the pumps.
Medics also responded, but Agapito was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dickey was taken into custody and later charged with manslaughter, according to police. He is currently being held without bond.
Authorities have not yet said what sparked the fight between the two men.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information about the deadly confrontation to come forward.
A court date for Dickey has not yet been announced.
