An Uber ride in Brisbane took a horrifying turn when a driver allegedly threw hot coffee on a passenger during a heated argument, leaving one woman reportedly hospitalized with severe burns.
The incident happened in Fortitude Valley, a busy nightlife area in Brisbane, Australia, and video of the confrontation has since been spreading on social media.
According to the viral clip and details shared in the post, the dispute began after two women got into the Uber and the driver allegedly demanded that they cancel the trip.
It is not clear what happened before the recording started, but the video shows the driver telling the women to get out of his car. At one point, he can be heard using abusive language toward one of them.
One of the women said she had asked the driver to cancel the trip himself, while the driver appeared to insist that the passengers needed to cancel it instead.
The argument quickly got worse.
“I am telling you one more time, otherwise I’m going to throw coffee on you,” the driver warned in the video.
The women appeared shocked by the threat. One of them pushed back, explaining that she did not want to cancel the ride because she said she had been “stung before.”
“We just asked you to cancel the trip,” she said. “I said I’m not cancelling the trip because I’ve been stung before. Was it that hard?”
As tensions rose, the woman recording the video questioned why the driver accepted the ride in the first place if he did not want to take them.
