An Arizona man allegedly stabbed his wife 24 times because he wanted her to stop talking, according to police.
Nathaniel Gotham, 32, is accused of carrying out the brutal attack Saturday inside the couple’s apartment in Mesa, just outside Phoenix.
According to a police report obtained by AZFamily, Gotham called 911 after the stabbing and allegedly confessed.
“I did it, it’s all my fault,” he reportedly told the dispatcher.
After the attack, Gotham also allegedly tried to call his mother-in-law to apologize. He then called his own mother and told her she might never see him again, police said.
Officers rushed to the apartment at around 4:30 p.m. and found Gotham lying on top of his badly injured wife while covered in blood, according to the report, which was also reviewed by Fox 10.
The woman was bleeding heavily and had wounds on her hands that appeared to have been suffered while she tried to defend herself, investigators said.
Police said she had been stabbed in the head, neck and face, along with 16 times in the back.
She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and remains in stable condition, according to authorities.
During questioning, Gotham allegedly told police he attacked his wife because he wanted her to stop talking. Investigators said he also blamed her for wasting “the best years of my life” during the stabbing.
Gotham reportedly claimed he had “ended up with the wrong woman,” despite the couple being together for 14 years and married for four.
Police recovered a kitchen steak knife they believe was used in the attack.
Gotham also allegedly admitted that he had choked his wife during a previous argument several years ago.
He has been charged with attempted murder and made his first court appearance in Maricopa County on Sunday. He is scheduled to return to court Friday.

He’s a wacko! Get rid of him. Death penalty is the only answer. He’ll get out of prison and only do it again.
