A Georgia man is facing a string of serious charges after police say he smashed through the wall of a neighboring apartment and launched a terrifying attack on a 15-year-old girl.

Obed Reyes, 29, was arrested following the Aug. 5 incident at an apartment complex on Summit Street in Gainesville, according to police.

Authorities allege Reyes broke through a closet wall from a neighboring unit and forced his way into the apartment where the teen was staying.

Once inside, police say he grabbed the girl by the hair and repeatedly punched her.

Even more disturbing, the alleged attack unfolded in front of the teen’s 5-year-old and 7-year-old siblings.

Police also accuse Reyes of threatening to rape the girl during the assault.

The teen eventually managed to break free and scream for help.

Witnesses called 911 shortly before 10 p.m. and reported seeing a man dragging a female by her hair and hitting her repeatedly as she screamed during the struggle.

When Gainesville Police officers arrived, they allegedly caught Reyes actively assaulting the teenager and stepped in to stop him.

Investigators said the girl did not know Reyes, although he reportedly lived in the same apartment building.

It was not immediately clear whether Reyes lived in the exact unit from which police say the wall had been broken.

He has since been charged with burglary, aggravated assault, attempted rape, kidnapping and cruelty to children.

Court records showing whether Reyes has entered a plea or hired an attorney were not immediately available.

Police are continuing to investigate the disturbing case.
