A Texas mother is facing attempted capital murder charges after police say her husband and two young children were stabbed inside their North Texas home early Tuesday morning.

Holly Flores, 37, was arrested Oct. 6 after officers were called to the family’s home in Northlake, a community north of Fort Worth, at around 4:30 a.m.

According to police, Flores’ 34-year-old husband called 911 and reported that he and the couple’s children had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they found the husband suffering from a stab wound to his head. Police said his injury was not considered life-threatening, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officers then found the couple’s 3-year-old daughter and 10-month-old son inside the home with stab wounds to their chests.

Both children were rushed to the hospital.

Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford said the children remained hospitalized for observation but were expected to recover.

“They’re still in hospital for observation, but I believe they are going to be okay,” Crawford said.

Flores was also taken to a hospital and treated for what authorities described as minor injuries.

After being released from medical care, she was booked into the Denton County Jail.

Jail records show Flores is charged with two counts of attempted capital murder of a person under the age of 10 and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The charges are allegations, and Flores has not been convicted.

Police have not publicly disclosed what may have led to the incident.

However, Crawford revealed that officers had previously been called to the family’s home several times.

Tuesday’s response marked the department’s fifth welfare-related visit to the residence since March.

Crawford said investigators were still reviewing those previous calls and cautioned against drawing conclusions before detectives had completed their work.

He described the case as “very, very heartbreaking” and asked the community to keep both the family and responding officers in their thoughts.

The police chief also spoke about the impact cases involving children can have on first responders.

“Most people don’t see tragedies like this in a lifetime,” Crawford said, adding that officers can encounter several such incidents over the course of their careers.

The investigation remains active, and authorities have not announced whether additional charges could be filed.

Police have also not released further details about the family’s previous welfare calls or what investigators believe happened in the moments leading up to the alleged attack.
