Lowe’s Employee Murders Co-Worker on Forklift

A deadly workplace shooting has rocked a Lowe’s store near Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an employee allegedly walked up to a co-worker on a forklift and executed him in cold blood — then calmly called 911 to confess.

Authorities say 36-year-old Christopher Wasnetsky shot and killed 44-year-old Jeffrey Moeller around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lowe’s on Viewmont Drive. According to a criminal complaint, Moeller was found lying in a pool of blood with two gunshot wounds to the head and one to the back. He died shortly after being rushed to a local hospital.

In a shocking twist, police say Wasnetsky emailed Lowe’s human resources before the killing, claiming he wouldn’t have pulled the trigger if they had acted on his repeated complaints about Moeller.

“I’d like to report a shooting at Dickson City Lowe’s,” Wasnetsky told a 911 dispatcher after the attack, according to court records. “I was the person that did it.” When asked why, he blamed “months of harassment and other things.”

But according to store management, those allegations had already been investigated — and dismissed for lack of evidence.

Police say surveillance footage captured the brutal scene: Moeller was working on a forklift when Wasnetsky approached with a shopping cart, pulled a handgun from it, and shot him from just five feet away. As Moeller tried to crawl away, Wasnetsky allegedly stood over him and fired more shots.

Wasnetsky reportedly told detectives he had brought the gun to work with the intention of killing Moeller — and then himself — and had practiced firing it in his backyard.

Now charged with both first- and third-degree murder, Wasnetsky remains in custody at the Lackawanna County Prison without bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for June 30.

The killing has sparked outrage from Moeller’s family, who say the narrative being pushed by the shooter doesn’t add up. According to a GoFundMe page created by Moeller’s sister, Christina, Jeffrey had actually reported Wasnetsky to HR several times himself.
