A Florida man is facing serious charges after allegedly trying to run over a group of kids who ding-dong ditched his house.

According to records from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old John P. Albanos was arrested on July 12 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. He was released on bond the following day and is scheduled to appear in court in early August.

The incident happened in Naples, Florida, where police say a group of kids on scooters were ringing doorbells and running away—a classic prank known as “ding-dong ditching.” According to Gulf Coast News, the kids had pulled the stunt at several homes along 28th Ave. when they got to Albanos’ door.

But instead of brushing it off, Albanos allegedly snapped. Police say he jumped in his car and began chasing the children down the street.

The kids ran for cover into a neighbor’s yard, trying to escape the vehicle. A witness who saw the chaos unfold called 911 and reportedly tried to calm Albanos down and direct him away from the frightened kids.

While no one was hurt, the charges Albanos now faces are serious. The Naples Police Department has yet to issue a public statement on the case.

  1. If you put in a 12 hour day and finally got to sleep when the doorbell rings at 2:30 am, how would you feel about those “children” ? I have experienced this myself. I just made certain that there was no real threat before going back to bed. The children were off to another house spreading joy and happiness. The parents should be fined a dollar amount that leaves a large dent and this should be a concern considering future job application background checks.

  2. While Albano’s behavior was way over the top, who can blame him. Children should be taught NOT to do this, because not everyone thinks it is funny to be disturbed “just for the fun of it”. Some people may not feel well; have a sick child trying to sleep, or have an elder who shouldn’t be disturbed. This “prank” can be a serious issue for someone, and children don’t know what can happen next….

  3. This man should have more self control .He could have talked to the parents or reported the incident. These children need parents to discipline them

  4. SNOW FLAKE KIDS NO DISCIPLINE NOWADAYS OUT RUNNING WILD MAKING EVERBODYS LIFE A MISERY A BET THEIR SINGLE MAWS PISSED OR STONED OUT HER BOX LYING ON THE SOFA WATCHING LOVVE ISLAND

  5. Lucky for Albanos this is Florida.
The Florida states attorney will drop the charges to misdemeanor invalid inspection sticker. He’ll pay a $15 fine.
