A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Cleveland on July 10 when Sharmaine Forpahl, a devoted single mother, was fatally stabbed in front of her five young children, leaving the family shattered.
The 32-year-old mom of five was brutally attacked in Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood, with her children—ages 7, 9, 11, 12, and 15—witnessing the horrific event. Authorities discovered Forpahl’s body near the front door of her home, according to Cleveland 19 News.
Charles F. Barkley, 44, who had briefly been romantically involved with Forpahl, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to her death. The violent incident was reportedly the result of a domestic dispute, adding another grim layer to the tragedy.
Ciara Drake, Forpahl’s best friend, described her as “a devoted single mother” whose life revolved around providing a loving and safe home for her children. Drake has set up a GoFundMe campaign to support the grieving family, raising over $8,000 to help secure their education and well-being.
“She recently moved into a peaceful single-family home in a quiet neighborhood, where she enjoyed spending quality time with her children,” Drake shared. “Rest in Peace, Sharmaine. You will always be loved and missed.”
Forpahl’s youngest child, 7-year-old Harlem, is struggling to comprehend the loss, according to her sister, Sky Harmon. Harmon tearfully expressed how devastating the loss is, saying, “It hurts because I’ll never hear from her.”
The family and community are now rallying to ensure Sharmaine’s memory endures, particularly for her younger children who face growing up without their mother. Forpahl’s funeral is set to take place on July 26, offering family, friends, and neighbors a chance to mourn and celebrate her life.
