A Texas man is behind bars after police say he approached an 11-year-old girl while wearing nothing but a diaper and asked her to change it.
Wesley Worl, 45, is charged with criminal solicitation of a minor in connection with the bizarre and disturbing encounter, which happened Tuesday, July 29, near Andy Woods Elementary School in Tyler.
According to police, the young girl was riding her bike just before 6 p.m. when Worl — dressed only in a diaper with a pacifier hanging from his neck — pulled into the school parking lot, stepped out of his truck, and said “goo goo gaa gaa” before asking her to change his diaper.
“He had apparently seen her riding her bicycle and pulled in ahead of her,” Tyler Police Department spokesperson Andy Erbaugh told PEOPLE. “When she approached, he jumped out and his words were, ‘goo goo gaa gaa. I need you to change my diaper.’”
The terrified girl quickly rode away and found nearby witnesses, who knew her and immediately called her parents. Police say Worl got back into his truck and drove off, but not before one of the witnesses wrote down part of his license plate number. Investigators also obtained surveillance video of his vehicle.
“We got a description of him, and we put two and two together… found it was Wesley Worl, got warrants, and arrested him,” Erbaugh said.
Worl was also charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass in a separate incident. He is being held in the Smith County Jail on a $600,000 bond. Police say the girl was shaken but is safe at home with her family.
