A California man who caused a deadly high-speed crash while drunk — and then tried to ditch alcohol containers at the scene — has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Aleim Alavez, 25, admitted to four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for the July 19, 2024, wreck that killed four Turkish refugees: 27-year-old Faruk Cetin, 23-year-old Mahsun Dursun, 27-year-old Abdurrezak Hizmali, and 25-year-old Baris Savas.
Prosecutors said Alavez was driving 108 mph when he slammed his Toyota Tacoma into a Toyota Prius carrying the victims at around 1:30 a.m. The impact caused his truck to flip and sent the Prius off the road, ejecting all four men. Two died instantly; the other two passed away at the hospital. Their families watched the sentencing remotely from Turkey.
Witnesses told authorities that instead of helping the dying men, Alavez grabbed multiple alcohol containers from his truck and tossed them over a nearby bridge. Two hours after the crash, his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.16 — twice California’s legal limit.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Marian Gaston acknowledged Alavez’s visible remorse but stressed the devastating consequences of his actions. “He knows what a bad decision he made and how much he’s hurt other people,” she said before handing down the 12-year sentence.

So, he got three years jail term for each death. Not enough time, should had been the rest of his life for the murders!
