More than 27 years after Amy Bradley vanished during a family cruise, her mysterious case is getting fresh attention — and with it, new momentum.
Amy, then 23, disappeared from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship near Curaçao on March 24, 1998. Despite an intensive investigation by the FBI, her case remained cold for decades. But the release of the Netflix docuseries Amy Bradley Is Missing earlier this summer has reignited interest and sparked a wave of new tips.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which spoke with a source close to the production, hundreds of new leads have come in since the three-part docuseries premiered in July — including at least three that are considered “very significant.”
Amy had been out at the ship’s nightclub with her brother Brad, fellow passengers, and crew members the night before she vanished. When her family awoke the next morning, she was gone — and despite a full search of the ship, no trace of her was found. What followed was a baffling mystery that has gripped the public for decades.
Theories about Amy’s disappearance range from a tragic fall overboard to something far more sinister — an abduction linked to human trafficking. The Netflix series has brought new attention to the latter, and now, evidence appears to be mounting in that direction.
One particularly chilling detail, which wasn’t featured in the series, involves a female bartender who was reportedly heard saying, “Señorita kidnapped! Señorita kidnapped!” on the night Amy disappeared. Her identity remained unknown until recently. According to THR, she has now been located and is being interviewed by investigators.
In response to the influx of new leads, the Bradley family has reportedly hired private investigators, funded in part by the attention and support the documentary generated. Those investigators — along with the FBI — are currently following leads in Curaçao and nearby countries.
Another promising lead came from a hit on Amy’s official missing person website, which is actively monitored in case she — or someone connected to her — visits. The activity was traced to a device on a boat near Barbados, according to THR. This coincides with a reported new sighting of Amy in that area.
There’s also a new lead connected to the possibility that Amy may have had a child during her time missing — a theory briefly mentioned in the Netflix series but not fully explored. That angle is now being investigated further.
Over the years, there have been several reported sightings of Amy, both in the Caribbean and the U.S., but none have led to her recovery. Still, her family has never given up hope — and firmly believes she did not fall or take her own life.
“People can’t understand the level of hope that we’ve maintained,” her brother Brad said in a past interview. “We’re still waiting for that call.”
