Oswego, Illinois’ police have arrested a suspect following two separate stabbing incidents at a Chick-fil-A on Route 34, which left one man dead and another injured.
The first attack reportedly happened around 3 a.m., with the victim found inside the restaurant. Hours later, at about 5 a.m., police responded to a call about another stabbing outside the same Chick-fil-A. When officers arrived, they found a second victim injured and quickly took the suspect into custody.
A witness to the outside attack, who wished to remain anonymous, told ABC7 how she rushed to help her son during the violent encounter. “They were hitting each other,” she said. “The guy got my son on the floor, so I got out of the car and was trying to get him away so he couldn’t hurt my son anymore.” When police arrived, they found her son holding down the attacker.
According to Oswego police spokesperson Cherese Spears, no restaurant employees were present during either attack.
The Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force has been called in to assist with the ongoing investigation. Police are still working to determine the motive behind these shocking attacks.
Nearby, crime scene tape surrounded a delivery truck owned by a local company, but it’s unclear if the vehicle was involved.
The community is shaken by the violent events at a place many know as a family-friendly spot, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
