Pregnant Woman Brutally Attacked with Baseball Bat Moments After Leaving Work

A Wisconsin woman who is pregnant says she was brutally attacked just moments after leaving work, knocked to the ground and beaten by two hooded suspects — one of them armed with a baseball bat.

Gheonna Lacy had just finished an early-morning shift as a caretaker at a group home in Racine on Jan. 15 when the violent ambush unfolded, she told local outlet WISN. As she walked outside, two figures in hoodies approached her and immediately launched the attack.

Ring camera footage reviewed by the station reportedly shows the suspects running off as screams can be heard, with one attacker visibly carrying a bat.

“They just immediately knocked me to the ground,” Lacy said. “They started swinging the bat. Stomping me with their feet.”

Lacy, a mother of two who is currently pregnant, said her only thought during the assault was protecting her unborn baby.

“She was starting to kill the baby,” Lacy said, referring to one of the attackers. “As a pregnant person, you feel like you’re safe. Like no one is going to touch you.”

According to Lacy, she recognized one of the suspects as a woman she believes had been stalking her following a personal relationship dispute. The second attacker, a man, was unknown to her.

As of Tuesday, Jan. 20, no arrests had been made, according to TMJ4.

A GoFundMe created by Lacy’s employer states she was struck with a metal baseball bat and suffered injuries to her stomach, face, and entire body. The fundraiser adds that she remains hospitalized, where doctors are closely monitoring both her and her unborn child.

“This traumatic incident has left her physically injured, emotionally shaken, and unable to work at this time,” the organizer wrote.

The fundraiser has raised more than $3,000 so far as the investigation continues.
