A shocking case out of Mexico City is raising serious questions after a former beauty queen was found dead—and investigators are now looking at someone very close to her.
Carolina Flores Gómez, 27, was discovered dead inside an apartment on April 15 in the upscale Polanco area. Authorities say she suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Gómez, who won the 2017 Miss Teen Universe Baja California pageant, had been living in Mexico City at the time of her death. The case has quickly taken a dramatic turn as prosecutors investigate a disturbing allegation involving her own family.
According to reports, officials are looking into the possible involvement of her mother-in-law in the killing. Authorities also say both Gómez’s husband and his mother were reportedly present inside the apartment when the shooting happened.
So far, no arrests have been made and no one has been formally charged.
Gómez was originally from Ensenada, Baja California, and her sudden death has left many stunned as investigators work to piece together what really happened inside the apartment that night.
The investigation is ongoing.
