A violent early-morning attack in Wisconsin has landed a man behind bars after police say he stormed into his ex-girlfriend’s home and went on a machete rampage.

Authorities say 29-year-old David Mairena-Garcia is in custody at the Brown County Jail following the alleged attack that left two people seriously injured.

According to the Green Bay Police Department, officers responded to a home in Green Bay around 5:15 a.m. after receiving reports of an assault involving an edged weapon.

When they arrived, they found a 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. Both were treated at the scene before being rushed to a hospital.

Investigators say the suspect knew both victims. The woman is his ex-girlfriend, and the two share a child. The male victim is her current boyfriend.

According to a criminal complaint, Mairena-Garcia allegedly entered the home using his own key and immediately launched the attack.

Police say he didn’t say a word—he just started swinging.

The complaint alleges he struck the new boyfriend multiple times with a machete, hitting his shoulder, forearm, and leg. He then allegedly turned on his ex-girlfriend, beating her and causing injuries to her head, along with cuts to her hand and neck.

Despite the brutal attack, the boyfriend reportedly managed to escape outside—but police say Mairena-Garcia chased him down the street with the machete before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.

Authorities later tracked him down using license plate reader technology and arrested him during a traffic stop about three hours later.

When questioned, police say Mairena-Garcia admitted he became enraged after seeing his ex with another man and said he “just wanted to kill them.”

He is now facing multiple serious charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, both with deadly weapon enhancements. He’s also charged with aggravated battery, armed burglary, and bail jumping, with one count carrying a domestic violence enhancement.

His bond has been set at $750,000, and he remains behind bars. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 19.

The investigation is ongoing.
