A chilling discovery in Memphis has left investigators searching for answers after the remains of three young children were found in a wooded area—and no one knows who they are.

The Memphis Police Department confirmed that the remains, believed to belong to children between the ages of 3 and 7, were discovered near Ridge Meadow Parkway. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing as they work to identify the children and determine how they died.

Police Chief Cerelyn “CJ” Davis revealed during a press conference that early findings from the Medical Examiner’s Office suggest the remains may have been in the area for several years.

Even more troubling—officials say recent missing persons reports in the area don’t match the children.

“We know these individuals were not reported missing from our area,” Davis said, raising the possibility they may have come from somewhere else.

The case began back on March 8 when a person walking their dog stumbled across what they thought might be bones and called police. When officers arrived, they found what appeared to be a human skull at the edge of the woods.

That discovery triggered a massive investigation involving around 170 personnel.

Over the following weeks, teams including the Medical Examiner’s Office and search and rescue units combed the area. Cadaver dogs later alerted investigators to a nearby drainage pipe, suggesting more remains could be hidden there.

Initially, a camera search of the drainage system didn’t reveal anything. But on April 1, investigators entered the area from another access point and found what appeared to be another skull.

The next day, search crews uncovered 14 additional bones believed to be human remains.

Officials say the case is deeply disturbing—and they believe someone out there knows something.

“Somebody knows where these children have come from,” Davis said. “This is heartbreaking.”

Investigators are now following every possible lead as they work to identify the victims and piece together what happened.
