A disturbing case out of Arizona has landed a man behind bars after police say he violently attacked his girlfriend multiple times — including one moment that was allegedly witnessed live over FaceTime.
Authorities say 30-year-old Jesus Arturo Guerrero-Martinez is facing serious charges, including domestic violence aggravated assault, kidnapping, and aggravated assault with a simulated weapon.
The incident reportedly began over something minor — a dispute about a laptop.
According to police, the woman had picked up the device to watch a movie but returned it in an attempt to avoid an argument. That didn’t stop the situation from escalating.
Investigators say Guerrero-Martinez allegedly grabbed her by the throat and dragged her into a bedroom, where things turned even more violent.
Inside the room, police say he threw her onto the bed, climbed on top of her, and strangled her again using his hands and forearm.
In a desperate attempt to get help, the woman reportedly called her mother on FaceTime during the attack.
What happened next is chilling.
According to authorities, the victim’s mother told police she could see her daughter being strangled on the screen. She immediately rushed over to the apartment.
The victim also told officers she was punched multiple times in the face during the assault.
Eventually, she was able to break free and escape the bedroom — but the nightmare wasn’t over.
Police say the suspect then pulled out what appeared to be a gun and threatened her. Investigators later determined the object was actually a metal flashlight designed to resemble a firearm.
During the investigation, Guerrero-Martinez denied the allegations, police said.
In court, prosecutors claimed the violence wasn’t an isolated incident, alleging he had previously tried to kill, threaten, and strangle the victim.
Guerrero-Martinez remains in custody at the Pima County Adult Detention Center on a $150,000 bond as the case moves forward.
