An 87-year-old convicted killer who had already spent decades behind bars for murdering two women has now been found guilty of carrying out another horrifying killing in Brooklyn.

Authorities announced Thursday that Harvey Marcelin was convicted of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse in the gruesome 2022 killing of Susan Leyden, 68.

According to prosecutors, Leyden was last seen entering Marcelin’s apartment in Brooklyn’s East New York neighborhood on Feb. 27, 2022.

Days later, the horrifying discovery began.

Investigators said Leyden’s torso was found stuffed inside a black plastic bag placed in a shopping cart near Marcelin’s apartment building.

Police later searched the apartment and allegedly found the victim’s severed head and limbs inside.

Authorities also recovered blood, cleaning supplies, a hammer, and packaging from an electric saw during the search.

Surveillance footage reportedly played a major role in the conviction.

Prosecutors said video captured Marcelin on March 2 rolling a wheeled shopping bag containing a black plastic bag through the neighborhood.

The next morning, a man riding an e-bike reportedly discovered Leyden’s torso inside that same bag.

Just days later, one of Leyden’s legs was also found discarded several blocks away.

Another surveillance video allegedly showed Marcelin riding an electric mobility scooter with a black plastic bag sitting on the seat beside him.

Investigators also said video captured Marcelin buying a saw and cleaning supplies from a Manhattan Home Depot around the time Leyden disappeared.

The city medical examiner later determined Leyden died from blunt force trauma to the head along with other severe injuries.

Authorities said Marcelin and Leyden had previously lived in the same Bronx shelter several years earlier, though investigators never fully determined the exact nature of their relationship.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez called the murder “cruel and reprehensible” and said the way Leyden’s body was mutilated “truly shocks the conscience.”

The disturbing case became even more shocking after many learned Marcelin had already spent more than 50 years in prison for killing two other women decades earlier.

In 1963, Marcelin was convicted of fatally shooting his girlfriend, Jacqueline Bonds, inside a Manhattan apartment.

After serving about 20 years in prison, Marcelin was released on parole in 1984.

But prosecutors said it didn’t take long before another woman was killed.

In 1985, Marcelin was arrested again after allegedly stabbing girlfriend Ana Laura Sierra to death and leaving her body in a garbage bag near Central Park.

After pleading guilty to manslaughter in that case, Marcelin was sentenced to prison again before eventually being released on parole in 2019.

During a parole hearing years ago, Marcelin reportedly admitted to having “problems” with women.

Now, after his latest conviction, prosecutors say he will never walk free again.

  1. Heard women couldn’t stay away from him!!
They were attracted to the bad boy image and thrill of possibly getting cut up and riding in grocery cart.

  2. Come on NY this guy should have gotten the death penalty! Out on parole twice and each time he killed someone. The judge that let this guy out should be held accountable for the deaths of 2 women! Enough is Enough!
