A 60-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a shocking crime after authorities discovered his mother’s body stored in a freezer at their home.

Police in South Wales made the grim discovery on February 17 after receiving a welfare check request from the elderly woman’s doctor. Inside the home, they found the body of 89-year-old Sylvia Phillips.

Her son, Christopher Phillips, was quickly arrested.

Investigators say he kept his mother’s body in a freezer for years after her death and never reported it to authorities. He has now admitted in court to preventing her from having a “lawful and decent” burial.

But that’s not all.

Christopher also confessed to withdrawing money from his mother’s account after she died, leading to additional fraud charges.

Authorities believe Sylvia may have died as far back as 2023, though her exact cause of death is still under investigation.

The case has raised serious questions about how something like this went unnoticed for so long.

In court, Christopher’s attorney requested a delay in sentencing so he can undergo a psychiatric evaluation, suggesting there may be more to understand about his actions.

A judge has since described the case as involving multiple serious offenses, with sentencing now scheduled for June.
