Woman Accused of Brutal Knife Attack on Man Fixing Flat Bike Tire

A Florida woman is accused of carrying out a brutal knife attack on a man who was simply trying to deal with a flat bicycle tire — leaving him with a severe abdominal wound and part of his nose severed.

Amanda Faye Rupp, 42, was arrested in West Palm Beach and charged with attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The attack happened early Sunday near Broadway Avenue and 47th Street.

According to a probable cause affidavit, two security guards found the 34-year-old victim badly injured and called police.

Officers said he had been stabbed in the upper abdomen so severely that part of his stomach was protruding from the wound.

He was also missing part of his nose.

Investigators later recovered the severed piece at the scene.

The man was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he underwent emergency treatment.

He later told detectives he had been sitting near a Walgreens because his bicycle had a flat tire when a woman approached him and asked about the bike.

According to police, the woman — later identified as Rupp — suddenly pulled out what the victim described as a kitchen knife and tried to take his phone.

Then, he said, she began stabbing him while screaming that she was going to kill him.

Investigators say the attack did not stop there.

Rupp allegedly struck the man in the back of the head, kicked him, punched him in the face and pulled at his bicycle during the struggle.

Police said surveillance footage showed her standing over the wounded man after the attack.

Although the footage was dark and difficult to make out in places, investigators said it supported key parts of the victim’s account.

Police later spotted Rupp walking south on Broadway.

According to the arrest report, she was carrying a silver-bladed knife and appeared to have blood on her arms.

When officers detained her, however, Rupp allegedly claimed she was the one who had been attacked.

Police say she accused the man of trying to rob her and claimed he had offered her his bicycle in exchange for sex.

She allegedly told investigators that he pulled a knife after she rejected him and that he was injured during the ensuing fight.

But detectives said the evidence did not match her version of events.

Investigators wrote that Rupp continued attacking the man even after he had already been stabbed and showed no apparent remorse afterward.

The victim’s injuries were considered life-threatening, and he required emergency surgery.

Rupp was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, where she remained without bond on the attempted murder charge.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 22.

The case remains under investigation.
